1. Read Donald Bogle's "An Interpretive History of Blacks in American Films" and/or his "Blacks in American Films and Television." 2. View at least two of the following films:

4. After each film notify me via e-mail when and where you saw the film, and include a paragraph in which you analyze that film in terms of some specific point raised by Bogle in his text. It is usually helpful to include two quotations from Bogle and then to explain specifically how you agree or disagree with his points. Submit only one review at a time and wait until you have had feeback from me before you write your subsequent review. 5. Write a five page paper in which you "add" material (either by reviewing another film or by adding depth to the film Bogle discusses) about one of the films you have watched. If your paper is less than five pages, please respond to the "Expressive Outcomes" assignment from the last paragraph of the description of Option A.
