Accessing your Pepperdine email from an "outside" email account

The following instructions detail how you can have Hotmail access your Pepperdine Student email account. If you use an email service other than Hotmail, your instructions will be very similar.

1. Determine on which Exchange server your email account exists:
If your last name begins with the letters A-L, your email server is studentmail1.pepperdine.edu

If your last name begins with the letters M-Z, your email server is studentmail2.pepperdine.edu

2. Login to your hotmail account, click on Options, then click on POP mail.

3. Under the 1st POP Account heading, input the following:

POP Server Name:the server name identified in Step 1, studentmail1.pepperdine.edu or studentmail2.pepperdine.edu

POP User Name: the user name you use to login to the Pepperdine computer system. If your name is John Q. Smith, your user name would typically be jqsmith

POP User Password: the password you use to login to the Pepperdine computer network.

Leave Server Timout at 90 seconds

Leave Port Number at 110

Check Leave messages on the Pop server

Check Download new messages only

Choose a symbol to identify the POP mail in your Hotmail inbox

4. When finished with Step 3, click on OK. Your access to the Pepperdine account is complete.

5. To check your Pepperdine mail, return to your Inbox. Under Services in the menu, click on POP mail. This will retreive any new messages from your Pepperdine email account. Be patient it may take some time.
