The first annual Pepperdine Math Day was held on Saturday, October 28, on the campus of
Pepperdine University in Malibu.
The primary purposes of this annual event are to promote interest and reward excellence in mathematics and science,
as well as to increase the interaction between Pepperdine and our local Southern California high school faculty and students.
Nearly 150 students from 15 Southern California schools, along with their accompanying faculty,
were in attendance.
The main event of the day was a
competitive written math exam.

The visiting faculty enjoyed a discussion on using technology in learning and teaching math, as well as some good company and refreshments.
A breakdown of results on the exam is here.
Also, a grade by grade breakdown of the scores is as follows (out of 50 questions total--no penalty for incorrect answers):
Grade | Low | Average | High |
9 | 16 | 17.7 | 25 |
10 | 8 | 20.5 | 36 |
11 | 5 | 18.5 | 38 |
12 | 1 | 18.4 | 40 |
