Origin:
One of the constellations in the southern sky, formally introduced by Johann Bayer in Uranometria in
1603. Its origins date back several years earlier and is attributed
to the Dutch navigator P.D. Keyser. The constellation probably
commemorates the native North American, who in the 17th century, where
merely objects to be shown off in polite society of Europe.

Indus is a difficult-to-find, southern circumpolar constellation which
culminates in the southern sky at 9 pm during the first week of October. |
